Cambridge Rock Festival

By Jo Gough | August 10, 2011 | Category News

This past weekend we were out and about at the Cambridge Rock Festival. Four days of fibre fun and fantastic music. Spindependence enabled an all ages rock audience to spin and make felt, as well as making friends with other fibre fans – or at least with their husbands – one even rang his wife who was busy listening to a band to find out her Ravelry name!

We also had a very rewarding experience, proving again that children who usually have trouble focussing on a task take to fibre craft like ducks to water. The calming and stress diffusing effect of knitting and other fibre activities have been studied for some time, but seeing the effects in person and in such a profound way was extremely moving. We love that we can enable people to find this kind of stillness and calm and hope to build on this concept for future projects.
